Technology, is it taking over our lives? I believe Fahrenheit 451 is a cautionary tale to technology, which takes over our lives. I will discus how Mildred, the family, and white clown support this idea but just in different ways. Then I will talk about how this connects with real world society.

Mildred supports the idea of technology taking over our lives. In the text shown on pages 48 and 49. “Will you turn the parlor off,” Montage said.  “That’s my family,  Mildred said. Will you turn it off for a sick man.” This shows that Mildred cares more for a parlor show about people that don’t exist than she does for her husband; Montage.  Another example is shown on page 42.  Mildred “Seashell Radio in her ear.”  She was listening to far people in far places. Even when Montage is crying Mildred pays no attention to him. The example shows that Mildred like most people in their society are not social.

The family and white clown are parlor programs which take out time from life and replace it with an addictive show example on page – Jesus can be part of your family for $9.50 a month. It shows that the family is controlling our lives through ideas and religion, but they are mindless and make you loose attachment toward your family. The white clown is just one large metaphore summed up in one sentence on page 77. “Does the white clown love you?”  Montage asked.  Mildred had no answer. She was just silent. She did not even know how to answer.

Burning Bright: is the title of part three in 451 burring bright means could mean the fire of knowledge found in books  and the cleansing of montag

Allusions: The allusion-fly near the sun. This is alluiting to Icarus flying with his wax wings to close to the sun.  Montag is Icarus flying to close to the sun. The knowledge of his books is the sun and Beaty is the sun melting the wings.

Mathew Arnold is the author, of Dover Beach. It is a poem of sadness that effects Ms. Phillips causing her to break down in tears. But she does not know why she started crying.

Vocabulary:
Valise-(n) small piece of luggage

Summary: Montag sends out Mrs. Bowles with saying this "Go home and think of your first husband divorced and your second husband killed in a Jet and your third husband blowing his brains out, go home and think of the dozen abortions you've had, go home and think of that and your damn Caesarian sections, too, and your children who hate your guts!"Then Montag carries the books into the back yard and hides them into the bush.Montag then arrives at the firehouse has a game of poker with Beaty. Then Beaty explains a dream to Montag where he and Montag are fighting each other over great words of Literature. Then the alarm signaling that there are a report of books that need to be burned. The fireman jump to life hustling equipment and starting up the salamander; firetruck.Beaty drives the firetruck with speed around the corners then stopping in front of Montag's house. The fireman arrive at Montag's house and his face is numb and featureless as he stares at his house at broken windows for cross breeze which is better for keeping a fire burning. Mildred runs out of the house with a valise into a taxi which races from the house. Then Beaty has a conversation with Montag which he says "Montag you're a burden. And fire will lift you off my shoulders, clean, quick, sure; nothing to rot later. Antibiotic, aesthetic, practical." In the middle of Montag's house lays a incredible pile of books like swan feathers.then Beaty flips open his lighter. montag caches a glimpse of the flame and asks Beaty what abut fir makes it so beautiful and captivating with witch he replies "its perpetual motion; the thing man wanted to invent but never did."then montag is forced to burn his own book and house, or face the mechanical hound. While burring his books he thinks of how the fire is the best for everything as it cleanses the house. When Montag is done he lights Beaty on fire after saying we never really burned . the mechanical hound stands across the lawn it attacks Montag shoots a blast of flame at the metal dog but it hits his leg with the needle making montag leg go num with anesthetized.

Symbols: Swan feathers are compared to white coverless books which are art like feathers of a swan. Montag plus Faber, Fire plus water. This symbol shows that Montag and Faber are complete opposite from each other yet they work together create something new. Poker is a symbol that Beaty already has all the cards and knows Montag has the books. The spiders show that the men are sneeky and have cut thier pray which is books

section 2 log 2 451

Summary:
The small metal object that is no larger than a 22 bullet was given to Montag it is a two way receiver for communication. It is used so that Faber can tell Montag what to say and do in certain situations; also can be used to tell Montag bedtime stories. When Ms. Phillips, Amy, and Mildred are talking in the parlor they mentioned the war and how it should be quick at least that is what the Army says.Ms. Phillips said she's had three marriages and no longer feels love for her third husband. As shown in this quote "If I get killed off, you just go right ahead and don't cry, but get married again, and don't think of me." Children only are home nine out of ten days. The rest of the time they are in school. Eventually Montag pulls out a book of poetry to scare the three women talking in the parlor. Faber tries to convince Montag to play off the incident as a joke and put the book in the incinerator. But Mildred says that Fireman are allowed to bring one book home to family and friends to show them how silly they are. Mrs. Bowles wants to prove the poetry that Montag read has caused everyone great sadness.

Symbol:
The Queen Bee is a symbol of Faber's cowardliness of leaving the safety of his own home. Montag, as a Drone Bee, is acting as Faber's ears and a link to the outside world and his insight into the Firehouse.

Simile:
Mildred to being compared to a fleeing Native from the eruption of Vesuvius. This shows how fast Mildred ran from the parlor.

Allusion:
Mathew Arnold is the author, of Dover Beach. It is a poem of sadness that effects Ms. Phillips causing her to break down in tears. But she does not know why she started crying.

Side Notes:
Jesus can be your family for $9.00 a month.

In the reading today we are introduced to the white clown which is a program on tv, and also introduced to Faber-(which his name could mean like a fable or story. Faber was an english teacher, he recites poems often from the book he illegally owns. Montag begins asking Faber how many copies of the bible, Shakespeare, and Plato are left in the country. wich shows all grat werks of art are likly gone.

allusions: The old and new testament is alluding to the Bible.

Symbols: Mildred is compared to a wax doll melting in its own heat because she is lifeless and having a emotional meltdown.

log 6 451

LOG 6 451

Summary
Montag believes he saw the mechanical Hound. Mildred tells Montag that she believes that Clairece is dead. She got ran over by a car four days ago. But Mildred remembered four days after it happened. Mildred would not even turn off the parlor room for Montag for when he is sick. Montag has come to a realization that he didn't even know Mildred. "Good God, nothing's connected up." It is referring to the show but it could also be referring to Mildred and Montag relationship.

My Own Ideas
I believe Montag is developing  schizophrenia or hallucinating the mechanical Hound outside his window. This could have been brought on by the guilt of having the book he stole. In these pages the family was introduced in a TV show.

Symbol:
Prying Mantis- shows that Mildred is skinny and looks gaunt.

Characters:
Mildred- Montag believes Mildred is an empty husk and that the electric snake people made it worse.

Vocab:
Cacophony- which means horrible sound generally it is used to describe music being played out of
tune.

Foreshadow:
"I think she is dead" Mildred said this to Montag. I believe this is a foreshadow because their is a high chance that she is dead.
